Step-by-step guide to Islamic ablution following the Sunnah
نِيَّة
Make the intention in your heart to perform wudu for the sake of Allah. The niyyah does not need to be spoken aloud; it is a matter of the heart.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Bismillāh
Say 'Bismillah' and wash both hands up to the wrists three times. The hands should be clean.
Take water into your mouth, rinse it thoroughly, and spit it out. Repeat three times.
Sniff water into your nostrils with the right hand and blow it out with the left hand. Repeat three times.
Wash the entire face three times: from the hairline to the chin, and from ear to ear.
Wash the right arm from fingertips to the elbow three times, then do the same for the left arm.
With wet hands, wipe your head once from the forehead to the back of the neck, then bring hands back to the front. Include the ears.
Wash the right foot from toe to ankle (including the heels) three times, then the left foot the same way.
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhu wa rasūluh.
I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
