The life, character, and legacy of the Prophet of Islam
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Mecca in 571 CE. His father Abdullah passed away before his birth, and his mother Aminah died when he was six. He was raised under the care of his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib, then his uncle Abu Talib.
As a young man, the Prophet participated in caravan trade and became known for his honesty and reliability. He earned the title 'Al-Amin' (The Trustworthy). He married Khadijah at the age of 25.
At the age of 40, the first revelation came in the Cave of Hira: 'Read!' (Alaq 1). This moment marked the beginning of Islam. For the first 13 years, a challenging mission continued in Mecca, followed by the migration to Medina.
In Medina, he established the Islamic community and signed the Constitution of Medina — a covenant between Muslims, Jews, and others. He put into practice the principles of justice and shura (consultation).
At the age of 63, during the Farewell Pilgrimage, he delivered the Farewell Sermon — a universal message of equality, justice, and rights for all humanity. He passed away in Medina in 632 CE.
The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.
Taberani
Make things easy, do not make them difficult. Give glad tidings, do not cause aversion.
Buhâri, Müslim
The strong person is not the one who overcomes others in wrestling; the strong person is the one who controls themselves when angry.
Buhâri
He showed mercy even to his enemies, and placed special emphasis on compassion toward children and animals.
He said: 'If even my daughter Fatimah stole, I would apply the punishment.' Everyone was equal before the law.
He made seeking knowledge obligatory for every Muslim, man and woman. He freed Badr prisoners in exchange for teaching others to read and write.
He dug the trench alongside his companions, wore patched clothing, and visited his neighbors. He lived his leadership with simplicity.
No person in history has created so much transformation with so little material. The son of a shepherd built a civilization that influenced three continents in 23 years. This extraordinary achievement is not merely a historical fact — it raises a profound question.
