خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ﴿٤٣﴾فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿٤٤﴾وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ﴿٤٥﴾أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ﴿٤٦﴾أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ﴿٤٧﴾فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ﴿٤٨﴾لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ﴿٤٩﴾فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ﴿٥٠﴾وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ﴿٥١﴾وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ﴿٥٢﴾

68:43Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.1

68:44So leave Me, [O Muḥammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies this statement [i.e., the Qur’ān]. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.1

68:45And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.

68:46Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

68:47Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

68:48Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muḥammad], and be not like the companion of the fish [i.e., Jonah] when he called out while he was distressed.

68:49If not that a favor [i.e., mercy] from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.1

68:50And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

68:51And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes [i.e., looks] when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

68:52But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.

الحاقةAl-Haqqah

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

ٱلْحَآقَّةُ﴿١﴾مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ﴿٢﴾وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ﴿٣﴾كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ﴿٤﴾فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ﴿٥﴾وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ﴿٦﴾سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ﴿٧﴾فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ﴿٨﴾

69:1The Inevitable Reality -

69:2What is the Inevitable Reality?

69:3And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

69:4Thamūd and ʿAad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection].

69:5So as for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

69:6And as for ʿAad, they were destroyed by a screaming,1 violent wind

69:7Which He [i.e., Allāh] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

69:8Then do you see of them any remains?
