الْإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسَبْعُونَ شُعْبَةً أَعْلَاهَا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَدْنَاهَا إِمَاطَةُ ...

Faith has seventy-odd branches. The highest is saying 'There is no god but Allah' and the lowest is removing harm from the road.

الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِيُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ وَفِي كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ

The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, and there is good in both.

مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَطْلُبُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَلَكَ اللَّهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا مِنْ طُرُقِ الْجَنَّةِ

Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.

طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.

فَضْلُ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْعَابِدِ كَفَضْلِ الْقَمَرِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الْكَوَاكِبِ

The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon over the rest of the stars.

فَضْلُ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْعَابِدِ كَفَضْلِ الْقَمَرِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الْكَوَاكِبِ

The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon over the rest of the stars.

الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الْإِيمَانِ

Cleanliness is half of faith.

لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

Were it not that I would cause hardship to my community, I would have commanded them to use the tooth-stick at every prayer.

السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ

The miswak is a purification for the mouth and a means of pleasing the Lord.

إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ قَوْمٌ يَعْتَدُونَ فِي الطُّهُورِ وَالدُّعَاءِ

There will be in this nation people who transgress in purification and supplication.

مَنْ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ فَهُوَ فِي ذِمَّةِ اللَّهِ

Whoever prays the Fajr prayer in congregation is under the protection of Allah.

مَنْ فَاتَتْهُ صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ فَكَأَنَّمَا وُتِرَ أَهْلَهُ وَمَالَهُ

Whoever misses the Asr prayer, it is as if he lost his family and his wealth.

أَكْثِرُوا الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

Send abundant blessings upon me on Friday.

مَنْ صَلَّى الضُّحَى ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ قَصْرًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ

Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs of Duha, Allah will build for him a palace in Paradise.

أَوَّلُ مَا يُحَاسَبُ بِهِ الْعَبْدُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الصَّلَاةُ

The first thing for which a servant will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection is the prayer.

مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ

Whoever visits a sick person remains in the garden of Paradise until they return.

ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تُرَدُّ دَعْوَتُهُمْ: الصَّائِمُ حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ، وَالْإِمَامُ الْعَادِلُ، وَدَعْوَةُ ...

The supplication of three persons is not rejected: the fasting person until they break their fast, the just leader, and the supplication of...

الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى

The upper hand (the giving hand) is better than the lower hand (the receiving hand).

صَدَقَةُ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ

Secret charity extinguishes the wrath of the Lord.

النِّكَاحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِسُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَتَزَوَّجُوا فَإِنِّي مُكَ...

Marriage is part of my sunnah, and whoever does not follow my sunnah is not of me. Get married, for I will boast of your great numbers...

خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي

The best of you is the one who is best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family.

لَا ضَرَرَ وَلَا ضِرَارَ

There should be neither harm nor reciprocating harm.

لَا يَحِلُّ مَالُ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ إِلَّا بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ مِنْهُ

The wealth of a Muslim is not lawful except with his willing consent.

لَا ضَرَرَ وَلَا ضِرَارَ

There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.

انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا

Help your brother whether he is an oppressor or is being oppressed.

مَنْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ مَظْلِمَةٌ لِأَخِيهِ فَلْيَتَحَلَّلْهُ مِنْهَا

Whoever has wronged his brother, let him seek his pardon.

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ

Charity does not decrease wealth.

الْجَنَّةُ تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ

Paradise is beneath the feet of mothers.

مَا آمَنَ بِي مَنْ بَاتَ شَبْعَانَ وَجَارُهُ جَائِعٌ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ بِهِ

He who sleeps full while his neighbor is hungry beside him, knowing it, has not truly believed in me.

يَسِّرُوا وَلَا تُعَسِّرُوا وَبَشِّرُوا وَلَا تُنَفِّرُوا

Make things easy and do not make them difficult. Give glad tidings and do not drive people away.

رِضَا الرَّبِّ فِي رِضَا الْوَالِدِ، وَسَخَطُ الرَّبِّ فِي سَخَطِ الْوَالِدِ

The Lord's pleasure is in the pleasure of the parent, and the Lord's anger is in the anger of the parent.

مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُبْسَطَ لَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ وَيُنْسَأَ لَهُ فِي أَثَرِهِ فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ

Whoever wants his provision to be expanded and his life to be extended, let him maintain family ties.

أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ هَكَذَا وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى

I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise, and he gestured with his index and middle fingers.

مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ

Jibril kept advising me about the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir.

الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صَدَقَةٌ

A good word is a charity.

تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ

Your smile in the face of your brother is a charity for you.

إِنَّ الرِّفْقَ لَا يَكُونُ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا زَانَهُ وَلَا يُنْزَعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا شَانَهُ

Gentleness is not found in anything except that it beautifies it, and it is not removed from anything except that it disgraces it.

أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ

Spread peace (greetings) among yourselves.

ارْحَمُوا مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ

Have mercy on those on earth, and the One in the heavens will have mercy on you.

أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ أَعْمَالِكُمْ وَأَزْكَاهَا عِنْدَ مَلِيكِكُمْ وَأَرْفَعِهَا فِي دَرَجَا...

'Shall I inform you of the best and purest of your deeds, which raises your ranks the most and is better than spending gold and silver?'...

الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَةُ

Supplication is worship itself.

لَا يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لَا يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ

Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah.

أَتَدْرُونَ مَا الْغِيبَةُ قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا يَكْرَه...

Do you know what backbiting is? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: It is mentioning your brother with what he dislikes.

لَا يُلْدَغُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مِنْ جُحْرٍ وَاحِدٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ

A believer is not stung from the same hole twice.

الْحَلَالُ بَيِّنٌ وَالْحَرَامُ بَيِّنٌ وَبَيْنَهُمَا أُمُورٌ مُشْتَبِهَاتٌ

The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters.

مَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ وَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ

What I have forbidden you from, avoid it. What I have commanded you to do, do as much of it as you are able.

الْعِبَادَةُ فِي الْهَرْجِ كَهِجْرَةٍ إِلَيَّ

Worship during times of turmoil is like emigrating to me.

بَدَأَ الْإِسْلَامُ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ غَرِيبًا كَمَا بَدَأَ فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ

Islam began as something strange and will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers.

وَالصَّبْرُ ضِيَاءٌ

Patience is light.

الدُّنْيَا سِجْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ وَجَنَّةُ الْكَافِرِ

The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever.

سَبْعَةٌ يُظِلُّهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ

Seven types of people will be shaded by Allah on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.

التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا، وَأَشَارَ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

Taqwa (piety) is here — and he pointed to his chest three times.

مَنِ اسْتَوَى يَوْمَاهُ فَهُوَ مَغْبُونٌ

Whoever has two equal days (without improvement) is at a loss.

نِعْمَتَانِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ الصِّحَّةُ وَالْفَرَاغُ

There are two blessings that many people are deceived about: health and free time.

إِذَا لَمْ تَسْتَحِ فَاصْنَعْ مَا شِئْتَ

If you have no shame, then do as you wish.

إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْحَسَدَ فَإِنَّ الْحَسَدَ يَأْكُلُ الْحَسَنَاتِ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ النَّارُ الْحَطَبَ

Beware of envy, for envy devours good deeds just as fire devours firewood.

الصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ الْمَاءُ النَّارَ

Charity extinguishes sin just as water extinguishes fire.

أَلَا إِنَّ فِي الْجَسَدِ مُضْغَةً إِذَا صَلَحَتْ صَلَحَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ وَإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ ا...

Indeed, in the body there is a piece of flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt....

اتَّقِ اللَّهَ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتَ وَأَتْبِعِ السَّيِّئَةَ الْحَسَنَةَ تَمْحُهَا وَخَالِقِ النَّاسَ بِخ...

Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good one to erase it, and deal with people with good character.

إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى

Actions are judged by intentions, and everyone will be rewarded according to what they intended.
